“The key to effective communication is listening, not talking.”
For example, when we say a leader is a good communicator, we don’t mean that people follow whatever the leader tells them to do.
Such a person is called a dictator, not a leader. When leaders listen to their people, we call them effective communicators.
Listening is the most important factor in effective communication. The second is expressing your opinion clearly but without insisting on it.
This requires you to let go of your expectation that others have to accept your opinion.
Instead, simply offer your suggestion or position. This is not an easy thing to do, so we need to be persistent in practicing.
