How Can We Incorporate Letting Go into Our Life?

Dharma Q&A session at Jogye-sa Temple, Seoul, South Korea (June 15, 2018)

March 27, 2021

Q: We all have desires and goals and we take inspired actions towards these goals. More recently I’ve been coming across this concept of letting go. My question to you is, what is our relationship of letting go as it pertains to your desires or your goals and the actions you take…So I am just trying to figure out how to incorporate or if at all this letting go concept can help the fulfillment of our ambitions. If so, how we can do that?

Wisdom For You

How can I speak up for myself?

You can’t say no to others not because you are a good person, but because you want to be perceived as a good person by others.
If you don’t want to be criticized, don’t speak your mind.
If you want to speak for yourself, embrace being criticized.
You are in a contradictory state when you want to speak your mind, but don’t want to be criticized.
Embrace criticism.
You can speak for yourself anytime.
