How Can I Have Goals in Life without Getting Attached?

Selection from a Dharma Q&A session at Jogyesa Temple, Seoul (June 14, 2019)

March 27, 2021

Q: My question is about non-attachment and goals in life. I have noticed that having goals in relationship or career can bring a lot of stress. For example, when I was applying to do my exchange in Korea, I was worried something might go wrong with my application and I have a lot of stress. And I learned that not being attached to things could bring happiness and less stress but I still think I still have to have some goals that I want to achieve in my life. So how would it be possible to combine these two things in my everyday life?

Wisdom For You

Life is like embroidery.
No matter what you are experiencing at this very moment, it is a part of your precious life. Not a single second of life is a waste. No matter how repetitive it may look, nothing is ever the same. This is the same as embroidering several flowers. Each one is different.
