“I sewed my pants several times, and there was a hole again.”

3.31.2021-Dharma Meeting, Dharma Teacher Meeting

April 2, 2021
“I sewed my pants several times, and there was a hole again.”

Sunim’s day begins at the Mungyeong Retreat Center.

At 4:30 in the morning when the moonlight is still bright, we prayed for the early morning ceremony and the 1000-Day Practice. The day was bright already when we started Baru Gongyang (communal breakfast ceremony).

Our weekly online Dharma Meeting started at 10am. Today, more than 800 volunteers attended the meeting through live broadcasting.

Before Sunim’s Dharma Talk, a spring blossom video was shown to the attendees.

“How was the video? Isn’t it pretty?” Sunim said.

Sunim talked about the spring news in the video.

Four people asked Sunim a question.

After answering the questions, Sunim once again emphasized the significance and future direction of meeting online, because there are still some people who dislike online programming.

Sunim wrapped up the meeting with a half bow. All attendees joined a small group session for Sharing.

After lunch, Sunim changed into his work clothes and went to the Apricot Valley across the stream of the Meditation Center. Two Jungto practitioners of the Haengja (행자) Institute followed Sunim.

“This is the most sunny place in the Mungyeong Retreat Center. Five years ago, I said several times that we needed to clean up this place and in the end I am doing it.” Sunim said.

It seems that nobody took care of this place after the construction of the tower. Sunim began to clean the bushes one by one.

“If you stack the tree branches neatly, they will dry well. Then you can use it as firewood” said Sunim.

Sweating all afternoon, the mess is cleared up.

“Oh, it’s hard!” Sunim said.

Sunim continued to work even though he said it was difficult many times. After working for 4 hours from 1 pm to 5 pm, the clear site has now emerged.

“I will have to work once more tomorrow with Dharma Teachers.” Sunim said.

Sunim did some maintenance on the upper part and the lower part and as he continued to scythe and saw he discovered a hole in his work clothes.

“I sewed my pants several times, and there was a hole again.” Sunim said.

After tidying up the work tools, we had a video conference at 5:30 pm. Following the reorganization of the online Jungto Society, the Unification Special Committee also held an interim steering committee meeting to discuss how to reform the organization.

The meeting ended after seeking advice from Sunim on the direction of reorganization, organizational structure, connection structure with the Jungto Society, and the appointment and approval process for each unit manager.

At 7:30 in the evening, the Jungto Dharma Teacher Council meeting was held online. Eight agendas on how to reorganize and operate the Dharma Teacher Council were debated and decided on in line with the transition to the online Jungto Society.

“If you agree with this agenda, please press the Raise Hand button. If you have any disagreements, please turn on the microphone and make a suggestion.” Sunim said.

After a three-hour meeting, all eight agendas were passed.

Tomorrow, we plan to hold a Jungto Daejun Committee Meeting to discuss writing a Buddhism Chapter and Socialism Chapter and then another meeting with Gyeolsa (결사) Practitioners (Lead Jungto Practitioners).

Wisdom For You

The time lag between cause and effect

Don’t be disappointed or excited that the result of your deed doesn’t bear fruit right away. No one can escape the consequences of their actions no matter how far they run or where they hide.
