We Now Have a School at Our Village

A remote mountain village of Mindanao Island in the Philippines. There was no school there. So, JTS decided to build a school.

JTS builds schools in villages that have over 40 households and are more than 4 km away from the nearest school. JTS purchases the materials, the municipality provides the construction techniques, and the villagers volunteer their labor for the school construction.

“It has been my dream and those of my ancestors to have my children attend school. JTS has realized my dream. The biggest basket in the world could not hold the amount of gratitude I feel today.” -A resident of Gagahuman-

To date, JTS Philippines has built 59 schools and 154 classrooms in Mindanao.

The aim of building the schools lies not only in eradicating illiteracy but also in helping the residents strengthen their ability to overcome poverty through voluntary participation in the school construction. JTS provides the construction materials, but the villagers must volunteer their labor in building the schools.

By building schools in Mindanao, JTS is planting seeds of peace in the conflict region of Mindanao.

March is a time when the new school year begins.

The volunteers of JTS Philippines head to the village today with the hope that going to school will soon become an everyday routine for the children living in the remote villages on Mindano Island.

Wisdom For You

When you are suffering from feelings of loneliness or emptiness that is a good time to take a look at yourself.
You may notice that you are trying to fill the void inside you with something external.
If you let go of the desire to fill the void, the feeling of emptiness will disappear.
