JUNGTO SOCIETY USA, INC., a community of Buddhists, engaging practitioners to learn and apply the Buddha’s original teachings in their daily lives through our educational programs, Live Dharma Talk, Sunday meditation, 1000-Day Practice and Jungto Dharma School, seeks our Director to be responsible for establishing and defining instructional objectives, policies and budgets; developing, analyzing, implementing, evaluating, and updating our educational programs and instructional materials by incorporating the most appropriate teaching methods; and training, advising and evaluating teaching and administrative staff for refining instructional skills, developing curricula and conducting courses.
With the aim of bringing about desired learning outcomes according to the objectives of each educational program, specifically, the director shall conduct or oversee the following:
– Develop and implement the curriculum of educational programs, including lesson plans, textbooks, worksheets and instructional videos
– Align the curriculum with the objectives and mission of the program
– Adapt the curriculum according to different learning conditions of students
– Evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum based on desired learning outcomes of the students and updates the curriculum based on the evaluation
– Define instructional and learning objectives
– Train, observe, evaluate and advise teaching staff with the aim of improving their teaching skills and students’ overall learning experiences based on instructional effectiveness data and feedback and surveys from the students and teaching and administrative staff
– Conduct workshops or conferences in order to improve instructional skills of teaching staff
– Oversee administrative staff’s provision of adequate support for teaching staff and students for desired leaning outcomes and experiences
– Design and prepare online educational tools that are essential to the educational programs
– Provide adequate support for teaching staff and students so that they can utilize online educational tools needed for a successful participation of the educational programs
– Analyze surveys and feedback from the students and staff and apply the results to improve the curriculum including instructional materials and online teaching/learning tools
– Prepare reports for each educational program and present them to the board of directors
– Prepare budgets, program policies and goals
– Authorize purchase of instructional materials or online teaching/learning tools
Report to: Secretary
Required: Master’s in Education, or Curriculum and instruction; 2 years of experience in analyzing and evaluating educational programs; and 1 year of teaching experience, designing and developing curricula, including assistance in curriculum development, and presenting lectures; The required experience must utilize analytical skills in evaluating educational programs and knowledge in educating students at a higher education setting. Employer accepts paid or unpaid experience gained in a faculty, TA or fellow position. Communication skills; Adhering to Buddhist philosophies and practices; Google Suite, MS Office Suite.
