Jungto Society

“Once people become lighthearted and happier, they will start helping others who are suffering.”

– Ven. Pomnyun Sunim (법륜스님)

Jungto Society is a community of engaged practitioners who seek to free themselves from suffering in daily lives and make the world a better place.

In 1988, Jungto Society was founded with the aim of solving problems prevalent in modern society. Based on the Buddha’s teachings, we learn how to maintain a peaceful state of mind and take the ownership of our lives. Our vision is to create “Jungto,” a land where individuals are happy, society is peaceful, and nature is preserved.

OUR MOTTO

Pure Heart

We examine and cultivate our minds and keep our hearts pure and unburdened, free from suffering.

Good Friends

We strive for a peaceful society by recognizing the interconnectedness of all sentient beings.

Clean Earth

We seek to live in balance and harmony with nature as it is the foundation of our existence and the origin of life.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

We Are A Community of Practitioners

Jungto Society is a community of engaged practitioners. All the members learn and focus on applying the Buddha’s original teachings in their daily lives.  We practice every morning in order to be awake to here and now, and eventually reach true happiness and freedom.

We Carry Out Practice Through Service

We make donations and volunteer our time to help those in need and to better our society as a whole. We carry out various initiatives designed to protect the environment, help people lead happier lives, and promote peace in the world. For Jungto Practitioners, volunteering to help others is not a separate activity from doing individual practice.

We pursue Authentic, Simple, and Practical Buddhism

Authentic Buddhism is about breaking away from our preconceptions and learn to see things as they truly are. Simple Buddhism emphasizes importance of individuals receiving the guidance appropriate to their respective starting points. In practical Buddhism, the Buddha’s teachings are applicable to our daily lives—we can experience them as we eat our meals, do our work, and complete chores at home.
